GOAL: Using research to support claims and opinions in Persuasive Writing

- Watch the video writing prompt below to begin brainstorming ideas for your own persuasive writing piece.
- While listening to the writing prompt, complete the brainstorm planner to start thinking about reasons that technology would either make life better or worse.

- When writing a persuasive piece, opinions start your reasons, but facts and evidence back them up.
- Watch the video lesson that walks you through how to complete a close reading of an article that will identify pros and cons of technology.
- While listening to the lesson you will need to create a T-Chart to take notes on the pros and cons of technology. The video will show you how to do this if you need help!

- Now that you have brainstormed your own ideas and the video lesson provided you with facts that can support both the pros and cons of technology, fill out the planner with your own opinion.

Art Lesson
This week, we are going to create a Mandala out of found objects! This project will focus on the use of symmetry, and how artists use personal objects in their artwork.
Mandala: A mandala is an abstract design that is usually circular in form. In fact, "mandala" is a Sanskrit word that means "circle". Mandalas generally have one identifiable center point, from which an array of symbols, shapes and forms radiate.
Here’s a list of materials you will need for this project:
A solid colored background for your workspace, such as the floor or a table top.
Collected objects that you have more than one of! These can be from in your house, or from nature!
