Wrestling Finishes 5th At State Championships
The Howell wrestling program came into the state tournament at Mizzou Arena looking to build on their third-place state finish from a year ago. With eight wrestlers vying for medals the Howell progam had put themselves into a great spot to repeat a final four finish. After a great weekend of wrestling, the Vikings had five wrestlers that medaled at the state tournament. Overall eight Howell wrestlers qualified for state and represented the Vikings. MSHSAA Class 4 - Howell State Medalists
120 lbs - Tyler Kreith (35-5) placed 4th and scored 14.00 team points.
145 lbs - Tyler McGhee (29-12) placed 5th and scored 9.00 team points.
170 lbs - Antonio Jenkins Harris (34-4) placed 4th and scored 14.00 team points.
182 lbs - Dylan Komperda (39-1) placed 3rd and scored 17.00 team points.
195 lbs - Jack Flynn (36-2) placed 2nd and scored 21.50 team points.
Girls Swim Earns Highest State Finish In Program History
It has been an exciting and historic season for the girls swim program. Just last week the Lady Vikings earned only the second GAC swim title in program history and this past weekend they earned the highest state finish in program history by finishing sixth at the MSHSAA Swim Championships. The Lady Vikings medaled in five events and had five team members earn medals. Overall the girls swim program reached the finals in seven events. The summer, fall, winter, and spring dead periods for the 2017-18 school year have been released. The MSHSAA dates can be found below. We hope that this information helps all Vikings and their families coordinate and prepare for the summer and sports seasons ahead during the 2017-18 school year.
