Notes from the School Counselor

ASCS August 2014

Welcome Back!

Hi all!

I am so looking forward to another great year at ASCS! In this flyer, you will find all sorts of information related to the school counseling program and how I can serve you and your students! Do not hesitate to reach out if you need anything AT ALL! I am here YOU and your wonderful students!

How can the school counselor help me?

You can...

- Refer students to see the school counselor for individual or group counseling.

- Request a specific guidance lesson based on the needs of your class

- Refer students for group mediation

- Consult & collaborate to address issues with students or classroom dynamics

- Seek out reference material on certain topics related to mental health and student development

- Locate references for local resources for students and families in my office

- Find an empathetic and listening ear!

I am originally from Longview, Texas, and I am a graduate of Texas A&M University. I studied Middle Grades Education and became an avid Aggie Football fan! I spent the next seven years teaching middle school Language Arts at Coppell Middle School East.

My husband, Tyler, is also an educator, and our daughter, Caroline, is one year old. Through my time in the classroom, I learned that while I loved teaching students about grammar and literature, my passion is to care for and support students, faculty, and parents. This inspired me to complete my Master’s degree in School Counseling in 2013 and a counseling internship in Coppell. I started as the school counselor at ASCS on March of 2013, and I am looking forward to another, wonderful year!
