Falcon Focus
May 6, 2022
From Mr. Biscan
Today concludes Teacher/Educator Appreciation Week. It's a focused time frame to honor the work of people who have a lasting impact. There's no doubt that being an educator provides many challenges. However, it also provides many opportunities for connection, care, and support.
No matter what is happening outside of Wheaton North we know that we have the chance, each day, to make a positive difference in the lives of the students we lead. Years from now, our current students will be able to point to people at Wheaton North who challenged, supported, and believed in them. I'm proud to be Wheaton North's principal because of them and our students.
Have a great weekend.
We are Falcons. We are Proud. We are North.

Participating staff ranged from varying grade levels, content areas, and years of experience in the classroom. Final Exam Schedule, Buses & Attendance
Semester 2 final exams are scheduled for 3 days: Wednesday, June 1, Thursday, June 2 and Friday, June 3. All three of these days will have an early dismissal. There is a full normal schedule school day on Tuesday, May 31, following Memorial Day weekend. The detailed final exam schedule is available here and at www.wnhs.org. For attendance purposes, please remind your students of the following:
Access, lunch and study halls do not meet during final exam periods. Parents do not have to call to excuse students if they will not be present during these periods. If students are on campus during Access, lunch or study hall, they should report to the cafeteria for quiet study.
Lunch periods are scheduled for the end of each day, and students with their own transportation can leave campus after their last final exam.
Students are expected to take their final exams on their scheduled days. Students who have a conflict must present a pre-approved absence form to the Assistant Principal of Student Services a minimum of two weeks before their exams. If it is approved, it is the student’s responsibility to make arrangements with his or her teachers to take the exams before their scheduled dates.
TCD (Technology Center of DuPage) students: The last day for TCD of the 2021-22 school year is Tuesday, May 24, 2022. For the following week, TCD students do not need to report to campus during Periods 1-4 on any days and do not need to be called in for attendance. If your TCD student is riding the usual AM/PM Wheaton North bus routes, they should report to the LLC for quiet study during these periods.
Blended students: All blended classes will be meeting during final exams; there are no blended days during finals.
Buses will run their normal time for morning pick-ups, and they will run after the last final exam of each final exam day.
REMINDER
There are no late start Wednesdays during May 2022.

Driver Education Placement Update - 2022-2023 School Year
Driver Education Placement - 2022/2023 School Year
Placements for the upcoming school year for both 1st and 2nd semester Driver Education classes have been finalized based on student birthdays. If your student requested Driver Education during our Course Selection process, they can confirm placement into 1st (060235) or 2nd (060236) semester under the "Course Request" link in StudentVue. Parents of students shifted to a waitlist due to not receiving a spot were sent a google form by email with this notification. Please check the email on file with us in your ParentVue account if you have not yet responded to that google form.
Please remember that per the State of Illinois requirements, students must pass eight semester courses in the two consecutive semesters leading into their Driver Education enrollment to remain eligible for the class. It is advisable for any students failing courses to get help through our Resource Center and teacher support in the next few weeks to raise all of their academic grades to earn credit.
Please also note that all student fees and outstanding obligations on your MySchoolBucks online account must be paid in full prior to the first day of the semester for a student to remain enrolled in our Driver Education program. If you have questions on any fees noted on your account, please contact Ms. JoAnn Hogan, School Treasurer, at (630) 784-7301.
Questions about applying for a possible fee waiver for the upcoming school year can be directed to Ms. Kristen McAleer at (630) 784-7317 as well.
Further questions on the 2022/2023 Driver Education placements can be directed to Ms. Kim Wittersheim (Counselor) at kimberly.wittersheim@cusd200.org or (630) 784-7331.
1st Semester Driver Education Early Bird Permit Test Option
All students confirmed for a first semester Driver Education course placement will be receiving an email near the end of May inviting them to join an Early Bird Permit Test Google Classroom to begin studying for the July Early Bird Permit Test.
According to the State of Illinois, students who are at least 15 years of age are eligible to sit for their driving permit test "30 days prior to active participation in a Driver Education course." All Early Bird Permit Testing information will be posted in the Google Classroom for enrolled students and parents who are interested. It is highly recommended that all of our enrolled 1st semester Driver Education students who are eligible for the Early Bird Permit Option (again, must be 15 years by the July testing window dates) take advantage of this opportunity, as all students must hold their permit for a minimum of 9 months prior to getting a license. That 9-month window will begin once a permit is officially made at a state facility. Students with their permit issued through this Early Bird Permit Option will be able to begin practicing with parents and logging hours prior to the semester beginning.
Any student enrolled in a 1st semester Driver Education course with us who does not choose to partake in the Early Bird Permit Option should still accept the Google Classroom for all study materials as they will sit for their test immediately once the semester begins in August.
Questions about this process can be directed to Ms. Kim Wittersheim (Counselor) at kimberly.wittersheim@cusd200.org or (630) 784-7331 until the end of the year. Any continued questions during the summer should be directed to Mr. Michael Oleszek (Instructor) at michael.oleszek@cusd200.org or Mr. David Eaton (Instructor) at david.eaton@cusd200.org

From the Health Office
If your student becomes ill during the school day, please remind them to go to the Health Office before texting a parent/guardian to go home. A student may be sent to the Health Office on a teacher's pass in case of sudden illness or injury. If the nurse feels the student is to be sent home, a parent or another authorized emergency contact will be consulted and transportation options discussed. Students leaving school because of illness or personal emergencies must check out through the health office to avoid an unexcused absence. A parent/guardian's request to excuse the absence after the student leaves during the school day cannot be honored. This process saves time and eliminates confusion, so we appreciate your cooperation.
Students entering the 9th grade for the 2022-2023 school year must show proof of having received a physical examination dated on or after August 17, 2021. A copy of this physical exam is expected in the Wheaton North Health Office by the first day of school - August 17, 2022.
If your student will be participating in interscholastic athletics, please make a copy of the completed physical form and turn it into the Athletic office via Family ID. Please note, the Illinois High School Athletic Association sports physical form does not qualify for the required 9th grade physical, but the required state physical form does qualify for both school and sports.
Students entering 12th grade for the 2022-2023 school year must show proof of having received a dose of Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine (MCV4) on or after their 16th birthday. Proof of having received this vaccination is due in the Health Office by the first day of school - August 17, 2022.
Physical Exam and Immunization records may be dropped off in the Main Office at WNHS or scanned (no screenshots, please) and emailed to: Wheatonnorthhealthoffice@cusd200.org
Please call the WNHS Health Office with any questions:
