Big picture

Collab Connects!

This month you'll receive several communications from the Collaboration. One will be a phone call (If you haven't already had it!) from Heather Duncan to follow up on the survey you see below and find out how your program is faring in the pandemic. The other will be a Collab Connects call or email from a Collab volunteer, and this one is to check in on you. The Collaboration for Early Childhood cares about you, and wants to support you during this difficult time, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for Collab Connects!

Arthur speaks on anti-racism!

Talk, Listen and Act sees Arthur and his best friend Buster turn to their lunch lady, Mrs. MacGrady, via video chat for advice on how to fight racism and stand up for what’s right. Mrs. MacGrady quotes the late civil rights leader and congressman John Lewis, telling Arthur, “If you see something that is not right, not fair, not just, you have a moral obligation to do something about it.”

About the Collab

In 2003, all six of Oak Park’s governmental agencies joined to initiate, fund and guide the Collaboration for Early Childhood, a unique public/private partnership designed to improve local early childhood resources. With more than 90 agencies participating, the Collaboration works to overcome the fragmentation and scarcity of services endemic to the early childhood field by integrating all of our community resources to better meet the needs of the youngest children and their families. Our work is focused on four strategic priorities:

1) the advancement of high-quality preschool for all children

2) professional development for early childhood providers

3) parent information and support

and 4) developmental screening.

Additionally, we are committed to continuous quality improvement and to engaging in extensive data collection to support short-term evaluations and longitudinal analyses that inform this work.
