Facts:

-Autism now affects 1 in 68 children and 1 in 42 boys.

-Boys are five times more likely than girls to get autism.

-1 in 189 girls are likely to get autism.

-It can be detected as young as 6 months.

-Autism costs a family $60,000 a year on average.

-Autism itself does not affect life expectancy however; research has shown that the risk is higher due to drowning and other accidents.

-Involves serious impairments and social interactions, communication, imaginative abilities, and rigid repetitive behaviors.

-Each child diagnosed with an autistic disorder differs from every other.

-Many parents can detect something is wrong in infancy.

-Between 30-50% of people with autism have seizures.
