Need to Know

Practice STAAR-

We will be warming up to STAAR with a little sneak peak. This is a great way for kids to see what will be expected of their independence and stamina. It is also a great formative tool for us to know some detailed information about where their strengths and weaknesses are to support our teaching in the month of April as we prepare for the end of the year. Students know that they should take it serious but that it is not the real thing and hopefully this will help ease some anxiety if any is being felt. Always best to come with a full belly and 8 hours of sleep, but will be really important on Monday and Tuesday as snacks will have to be held off until all test are collected (just like the real day)!

Thursday in house field trip!!! It'll be "out of this world!"

School is out for Good Friday. Have a great three day weekend!

On Monday, March 28th, we will be administering the district's math practice STAAR test. We will then use the data we collect to tailor our instruction during these last few weeks before the test. Please have your student get plenty of sleep Sunday night, and eat a healthy breakfast! We know they will all perform wonderfully!

For the rest of the week, we are continuing with our measurement unit. We will learn about the metric and customary units for length and weight. Student will learn how to measure with all the tools used for length and weight. We will also discuss what tool/unit would be the most appropriate to use to measure a given object (for example, measuring the weight of a cat...we would not use tons).

This week students will be focusing on character traits with the author study focus on Patricia Palacco. Students are expected to infer about the character based off of their dialogue and actions. They will also be expected to make connections to the character and compare them to themselves or other characters.

In writing, students will work on further developing their characters in their writing with thoughtful dialogue, actions and word choice.

Wednesday students will be showing what they know about their SOLAR SYSTEM on the unit test.
