A message from PTO:
We are having elections in January. During this election, we will elect a board to complete the 2020-2021 school year. What does a board do? We work hand in hand with the teachers and staff to support and show appreciation to our school. If this is something you are interested in, please consider joining PTO in order to be eligible to serve on the board. All are WELCOME! PTO membership is FREE this year. Please complete this form and someone will be in contact with you! We appreciate your support.
PreK
This week we will begin our Stories and Rhymes unit with a week of nursery rhymes. We will focus on the letter Oo and the number 14. Please take some time each day to practice letter names and sounds with your child, especially if he/she is not able to name at least half of them. Remember to send your child each day with a jacket and water bottle.-Mrs. Vasquez
This week in Pre-K C we are learning the letter M, the number 13 and all about using our imaginations. Ms. Ingroum
Kindergarten
Hi Parents, We hope your New Year is going great. We are working on 3d shapes in math right now. In social studies, we are learning about citizenship. Remember to keep sending water bottles, labeled with a name. The new reading packets that go along with the daily lessons are available for pick up in the front office this week.

1st Grade
Social Studies: Those in charge and the laws in a community
Math: Determining numbers that are 10 more or 10 less than a given number up to 120 and using pictures to determine the sum of a multiple of 10 and a one digit number
Science: Weather: hot, cold, clear, cloudy, etcetera as well as temperatures.-First Grade Team
2nd Grade
This week students will be starting a new unit covering Earth's systems. We will begin by studying weather! Students will have an opportunity to make their own rain gauge during class.-Mrs. A. Martinez
his week we will be spelling words with the c, k, g, j sounds. We will be reviewing how to make connections when reading and point of view in a story. Please have students read for at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown
2A/2C ELA- Hope you all enjoyed the snow! This week we will be learning how to read/write words with the prefixes -dis, -un, and -re. We will identify content-area words, point of view, and make connections with "The Story of Snow." For grammar, we will learn how the subject and verb come together to form a complete sentence. We are writing our first poem this week using the elements of poetry. Story quiz and Weekly Assessments are on Friday's and count for a lot of the overall grade for quarter 3. Please don't be absent on Friday's! Remember to bring a water bottle everyday and your jackets for recess! -Ms. B.Martinez
3rd Grade
This week we will be spelling words with vowels + /r/ pattern. We will be working on finding the central idea in a story. Students will be writing their own opinion statements using reasons to support their opinions. Please have students read for at least 20 minutes each day! -Ms. Brown
This week we have begun looking at fractions! We are practicing reading, representing, composing, and decomposing fractions. We will continue this unit for 2 more weeks. Please reach out to Ms. Curtis if you would like additional resources to assist your student at home.-Ms. Curtis
This week in ELA, our spelling pattern is over open syllables. In reading, we will be talking about Central or main idea. In writing, we will be opinion writing.In 3rd social studies we will be talking about budgeting this week.-Mrs. Salas
4th Grade
We are continuing our work on decimals this week. We will be modeling decimals and adding and subtracting decimals.-Ms. McCaig
4B is reading Esperanza Rising-Ms. Swanner
We will continue to work on the testing strategy, UNRAVEL. We will read nonfiction texts this week. There is a reading assignment about Yusra Madini in week 19 folder on schoology that will be a grade.-Mrs. Driver
5th Grade
This week in Reading we are identifying the elements of the plot in our weekly HMH story. We are also learning about adjectives and writing sentences. Please check your dojo messages often because that is the best way to keep in communication. All students should come to zoom on time and keep their cameras on. Students need to remain on camera to be counted present and to actively participate in the lesson.

Hello 5th grade parents and guardians! We are finishing up our Geometry unit.
Students learned about polygons, triangles, and quadrilaterals and important features
that pertain to each shape. Please check their journal and make sure they are taking the
notes in order to study. Also, please make sure students are completing 10 topics on ALEKS
each week as this can help/hurt their grade. Thanks for all you do! -Ms. Piscacek
