OCS Newsletter

October 2022

Dear Families,

The weather this October has been incredible. I hope you have enjoyed lots of time outside. Our students love playing and learning outside. Please remember as the weather changes to send your child in with a heavy sweatshirt or jacket for those cool mornings and windy days.

As a school we are focusing on our core values of being safe, responsible, and respectful. We recognize those students who exhibit those qualities each month at our Wildcat Pride Assemblies. This month we will welcome back our school mascot, The Wildcat and even give him a name! We also have some sixth graders that have volunteered to become part of the OCS squad to enhance the spirit of our core values at our assemblies and throughout our school. We are thrilled to have this new club at our school.

Last week, we enjoyed fire prevention week. Students in grades preschool through 3rd grade visited the fire station and learned all about prevention. Ask your child what they learned!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Fournier

Halloween Parade & Parties

We will celebrate Halloween on Monday, October 31st with the parade beginning at 2:15pm. We will start at the school and walk right into the downtown area. Families are welcome to watch on either side of Main Street. Parties will occur immediately after. Classroom teachers are currently sending home more information regarding parties and donations needed. If you are donating items please be sure to drop off in the main office before the start of the parade.

Attendance

Attendance is crucial for student learning and we are always trying to find ways to increase student attendance. Beginning November 1st, Ossipee Central School will be using School Messenger to call parent/guardians' cell phones if their student is absent from school, only if the parent/guardian has not called the school to excuse their child by 11:00am. This new system will help OCS improve our attendance procedure for students in grades K-6, notifying parents and guardians quickly for reasons that impact the safety and academic performance of our students. If you have any questions please call the office.

Preschool

The OCS preschool program is continuing to accept new enrollments for three year olds. If your child is three and you'd like to learn more about our preschool program please call the OCS office.
