Eli Clare is coming to campus this week!
About Eli Clare
On April 27-28th, we will be bringing Eli Clare to campus. Eli is an acclaimed writer, activist and lecturer with a passion for the outdoors. He is also a self-identified “white, disabled, genderqueer” adventurist with a “penchant for rabble-rousing.” His body of work and study emphasize the intersections of race, class, gender, sexuality, and disability. As a seasoned presenter and outdoor enthusiast, Eli is well-equipped to engage our campus community and guests in a thought-provoking dialogue about access and marginalization, identity politics, and identifying methods for improving conditions within and beyond their own communities. Eil will be participating in 3 different events on campus. All are welcome!
April 27th 6:30PM-8:30PM
April 28th 9:00AM-11:30AM
April 28th 2:30PM-3:30PM
Accessibility
The Activities and Recreation Center is ADA-accessible and all of the main entrances have automatic door opener buttons. There are multi-stall women's and men's bathrooms and single-stall all-gender bathrooms on each floor, all with automatic door opener buttons. There is an elevator in the ARC. The ARC is a new building, and the elevator is most noticeably off-gassing. The ARC is not air-conditioned, but we may turn on ceiling fans if it's hot
This event will not be scent-free, but to increase the accessibility of the event for attendees with chemical sensitivities, please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or essential oils to the event, and avoid smoking beforehand if possible. Please wash your clothes with fragrance-free detergent or baking soda and dry them without dryer sheets prior to the event.
The Plaza is an outdoor space, part of which is level with the main path through campus, and part of which has large steps that are available for sitting. There are also a few picnic tables with benches and open spaces for wheelchairs.
