What a FUN Week with Playworks!

Coach Atoi worked with every classroom to teach new games, try out some new cheers and share our newest problem solving strategy...Ro-Sham-Bo! We have a new set of Junior Coaches, 4th and 5th graders, who coach the younger students and set up all of the games for the day's recesses. Hillcrest's fantastic recess team has set up a recess experience that has all kids PLAYING and HAVING FUN during recess. We look forward to watching students try out new games, make new friends and for every learner to have an active, fun recess experience.

Hillcrest Garden Club Launched!

On Monday, we had an assembly to launch our work with the Garden Club. Mrs. Schultz worked with students to share what each person can do to make our world a better place. Then, students were able to try a variety of vegetables so they can help decide what will be planted in our garden beds. The veggies were a hit! If you are interested in learning more about how your family can participate, check out the details here: Hillcrest Community Garden.

Hillcrest 4th and 5th Grade Choir

Please mark your calendars for our 4th and 5th grade choir concert which will take place on Tuesday, May 21st at 6:30 p.m. in the Hillcrest Gym. The dress rehearsal will be earlier in the day at 9:15 a.m."

Class Lists for 2019-2020

Near the end of the school year, teams will work to build class lists for the next school year. There are many factors taken into account to build these lists and careful consideration is taken to make sure all students are set up for success. While we appreciate parent input in sharing what helps your child be successful in school, we are not able to take parent requests for specific teachers. If you would like to reach out to share any information that you feel is important for us to consider, please send an email or letter to Mrs. Lincicum by May 3rd and she will share that information with the team when class lists are created.

It's important to note, that these lists often do change during the summer as students move in and out of our district. In the event that a change needs to be made, we make adjustments that preserve the integrity of the original class lists developed by the team of teachers who know your child best.

Safe Arrival - Available Now!

Hillcrest is now fully up and running with the district's new attendance reporting system, Safe Arrival. Safe Arrival allows you to report an absence or appointment at any time from your phone. Our attendance line is still available for reporting absences but we encourage you to give Safe Arrival a try. We know you will find it to be an easy to use system that is available at times that work for YOU!

1) By far the easiest way to interact with the new system is by downloading the app on your phone and signing up for an account.

2) If you are not an app user and prefer to use your computer signup and login at https://go.schoolmessenger.com/

3) The phone option is still available by calling the attendance line at school. There will be a menu there to transfer your call into the new system. You may however, want to use the direct number 1-866-490-7371. By dialing direct from a phone that is registered with the district, the system should recognize the number you are calling from and be able to quickly identify your children and allow you to confirm their absence.
