Exceptional Athletes....Exceptional People

July 2020

Hi cheer parents,

I hope that all is well and that your families are staying healthy and happy!

WELCOME COACH COURTNEY! We are thrilled to announce that Coach Courtney is joining our coaching staff. When you meet her, you'll see why I'm so excited for her to join our IB cheer family. SHE LOVES KIDS! In fact, she is a pre-k teacher at a center downtown McKinney. Her optimism, leadership, natural love for people, and her ability to light up a room with her smile are a few of the reasons we are so grateful she's joining us! She will be coaching the level 1 team along with Coach Kamryn. You can check out her picture and bio below!

Beginning July 13, we will extend practices by 30 minutes (5:00-6:30 pm). Till that point, we will continue 5:00-6:00 pm on Mondays and Thursdays.

Tuition will remain $175/month for all athletes through July and August. Once we divide into teams in August, level 2 will increase to the normal rate of $225/month starting in September. Level 1 will remain at $175/month for the season. For the summer months, we are combining the girls for training since we are focusing on jumps and tumbling vs. stunts. Eventually, we will break the girls into separate teams based on age/ability, but for now, we are grouping girls by ability during our tumbling rotations.

The $75 annual registration fee will be collected July 24 (normally we collect the annual fees in April, but due to Covid, our owner has extended the deadline for us till July 24.)

Practicewear (for all kids) and uniforms (for new kids only) will be sized and ordered end of August. Since we have had the same practicewear for two years, we are due for a design change this season. Girls can wear any black spandex shorts to practice. NEW GIRLS must also purchase the uniform. We will be using the same uniform as last year, so if yours still fits, no need to order a new one. Click handbook link above for more details.

Competition schedules should be released within the next couple of months. I'll let you know asap when we find out! Competition fees will be collected in November. Click handbook link above for more details.

I will continue offering zoom workouts from 10:00 am-10:45 am on Saturday mornings for additional training during the month of July. Please encourage your daughter to participate. We will focus on tumbling, stretching, and jumps. There are about 5-6 kids who consistently work out via zoom on Saturdays and I'm seeing HUGE improvements in their overall strength and technique :). I'm very pleased with their work and I'm proud of all the girls!

IB will be asking each of you to do the following when practicing in the building.

1) Upon entering the gym, we will take everyone's temperatures using a touch-free thermometer.

2). No shoes, bags, jackets, etc will be allowed in the gym. Girls will leave their shoes and belongings in the front lobby. We will practice barefoot for the time being. I'd recommend wearing a pair of slip on flip flops to the gym so that they're easy to take on/off.

3). In order to keep traffic down, there will not be any visitation from parents/visitors. Only athletes will be allowed into the gym. The good news is, we have a HUGE facility! While the recommended percentage of people in a building is at 25%, we are well under that.

4). All coaches at IB will be required to wear a cover over their mouth. Masks are encouraged yet optional for athletes.

5). We are not stunting at all this summer.

5). Athletes will be required to wash their hands upon entering the building, as well as before they leave. We will limit the amount of people in the restroom at one time. We will have hand-sanitizer on hand as well.

6). We will be practicing social distancing of 6 feet apart at all times.

7). If you need to talk to the office about anything, we recommend you email. This way we don't have extra people in the lobby area. Again, only athletes will be permitted in the building.

8). The gym will have an on site cleaning crew to wipe down the bathrooms and doors along with securing all procedures of safe distancing throughout the day. If you would like to see our daily cleaning log sheet or staff log in sheet where we will verify our temperatures, please feel free to ask for it once we start back up.

We know that everyone has been affected by COVID-19 and these are challenging times...for parents and for kids. I am a firm believer in the power of teamwork, and I think that sticking together and working through this will help our girls build strength and character.

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to call me at any time :). 972-689-6347

I also want to sincerely thank you ALL for standing with IB. It's times like where loyalty shines through, and I truly appreciate you ALL for your patience and understanding. I love IB cheer, I love coaching, and most importantly, I love all of our awesome cheer families.
