Inclement Weather Plans

In the event that school is dismissed early due to inclement weather, please have a plan in place for your child(ren). The school phone will be needed to stay in touch with emergency personnel. Students will not be allowed to use the phone to contact parents for instructions. If your child(ren) is involved in either Kids Club or an After School Club, please make sure you have filled out the paperwork that has been sent home with your child(ren). This helps get your child(ren) home quickly and safely in the event of inclement weather.

Spotlight On Third Grade

Third grade is having an awesome year! In ELA students have had lots of opportunities to read fun stories, write narratives and explanatory texts, and use technology to enhance their learning. We had such fun learning about all kinds of different frogs last quarter. Students even had the opportunity to create their very own Freaky Frog book. The book is being professionally published and we are looking forward to getting our copies!!! This quarter we will be reading Peter Pan and then presenting a scene from the book. Students have already shown such progress in reading, writing, and math. We are looking forward to the rest of the school year!

Counselor's Corner

The character words for January and February will be “perseverance” and “determination.” The definition of perseverance and determination is “not giving up until the job is done.” We will also begin to discuss good study skills and test-taking strategies and how our character words tie into them.

Notice from our Nurse

The January bitter cold weather is finally here. Please make sure your children wear labeled coats and gloves to school everyday.

In order to keep our school healthy, please keep sick children home. They must remain 24 hours free of fever without the use of Tylenol or Motrin, and 24 hours without vomiting or diarrhea in order to return to school. Those who come in sick will be sent home accordingly. JR2 still offers free rapid Covid testing for any student or staff member. Please contact the school nurse or the Covid Coordinator for more information.

When being Covid tested at any facility, siblings should stay home until results are known.

Thanks again for your continued help in keeping our school safe & healthy.

Stay on "Track" with Physical Education

In PE we are geared up for the 2nd semester after a nice Christmas break. We will be starting off the new year by playing some fun fitness games and integrating math into the equation as well. This will lead into our ball handling skills unit, where our students will be developing skills in dribbling and passing to work on their hand eye coordination. I am excited to have a great 2nd semester and the start of a new year at North Elementary! Go Indians!
