FROM THE HEAD'S DESK
It was lovely to be able to welcome so many of you from Reception - Year 4 to Parents Evening yesterday, I hope you enjoyed learning about how your sons have been getting on. We are looking forward to seeing Year 5 and 6 parents early next week as well.
I must start by congratulating our chess players for their efforts last weekend. Fielding a team of boys from Claires Court who were representing Maidenhead Under 9’s, we had a very difficult draw on Saturday against Sussex and Hertfordshire! However, there were some great matches and the team of Téo Rybak, Henry Dargan, Sam Jeffrey, Tom Dargan, Nayan Popat, Samuel Tschiesche, Josh Spanswick and Kida Zhu did really well. Téo played exceptionally well and won all three of his games playing on one of the top boards. Special mention must go to Kida who won matches even though he is still in Year 2, and to Samuel Tschiesche who won two of his three games - Samuel is in Year 3. Samuel was also in action with Josh, Téo, Nayan and Niam Popat on Sunday where they represented the Berkshire Under 11 team against Buckinghamshire at Wellington College. Again all of the boys represented their school and their county with great enthusiasm and skill, and very well done to Nayan and Téo (Year 4), and Josh (year 3) who won one of their two games against much older opponents.
We started football fixtures this week with our Under 9 and 11 teams playing against OPS. After some tough matches where a snorkel and flippers may have been more useful than boots, our coaches know that we have some key areas of our game to work on! I would like to thank all of our boys who played on Tuesday and Wednesday for representing their school so well. All of our coaches returned from the games beaming with pride at how well our boys adapted to the conditions and gave of their best.
Our PTA are meeting this Tuesday morning, and we are on the hunt for our new Chairperson at the end of the academic year when Emma Robertson will step down. Please let me or Emma know if you are interested in taking up this role - there is a wonderful comradery amongst our PTA and the new post will certainly be lots of fun!
Pupils Voice leaders were in assembly on Wednesday explaining to the school how they have spent the PTA’s hard earned money! Fish tanks, lego, indoor trees and scalextric were just a few of the delights your sons have chosen for their classrooms. And if the weather keeps getting colder, they may get plenty of chance to enjoy them!
The best piece of work that I have seen this week has come from Oliver Thorpe in Year 1 who produced a beautiful piece of writing showing great accuracy and skill. Well done Oliver.
I would finally like to congratulate of our new starters to the school. George Wardle, Zac Burgess, Seb Mckee, Edward Newland, Sebastian Von Schmidt, George Paish, Joel Hannan, Alexander Belsey and Charlie Webster have all made brilliant starts and have enjoyed a wonderful first week and a half with us - well done boys, you are very much part of the community!
I wish you all a super weekend
Justin Spanswick
Joshua Notton - Brown, Zac Burgess and Max Van Vuuren all of whom produced some great work this week.
