News from Oakhurst
From the Principal
We have one more week of instruction in Google Classroom for this school year. Thank you for hanging in there and helping our students complete assignments and learn new content. We really appreciate your efforts. Since next Friday (May 22nd) is officially the last day of school, we will not be adding any additional content. However, the resources on our Virtual Learning Site, as well as previously created Google Classroom content might still be available. We might disable some of the features such as posting to the stream since teachers will not be working over the summer. Stay tuned for more information regarding summer access.
We are planning for a parent pickup of student belongings and materials. The tentative date is Monday, June 1st. Stay tuned for more details.
Staff Car Parade
The Oakhurst staff will be parading on Friday, May 22nd. Remember to practice social distancing. Please see the attached flyer below for details.
Second grade Moving On
Second grade teachers have planned a special home delivery for each student on May 21st to celebrate the completion of second grade at Oakhurst and Moving On to Upper Elementary School. Second grade parents please see an email from your child's teacher regarding the details. Be sure to respond.

Yearbook News
The work on the yearbook is complete and the pages have been submitted to Memory Book company for printing! We may not have the books available to distribute in early June when students are allowed to come pick up classroom belongings, but rest assured that when the finished yearbooks arrive, we will find a way to get them distributed as soon as we are safely able to do so!
If you intended to send in a contribution but haven't gotten around to it, you can still do so by going to oakhurstelementarypta.org. Select the Store menu, then click the Yearbook button to pay online. Please know that books will be provided for every student regardless of your ability to pay.
Thank you so much to everyone who supported the yearbook by helping to gather photos, sending in payments, and submitting dedications. A special thank-you goes to the teachers, who have been so helpful in sharing photos and other information. Both of us have worked on this project for several years now, and every year it is so much fun to see all of the photographs of busy classrooms, interesting activities, and sweet friendships. Of course, with all of the cute photos, it can also be hard to choose which ones to include! We hope that when your student receives their book, they will find it to be a special memento of this very interesting school year.
With our best wishes for a safe and happy summer,
Laura Willard and Whitney Zygmont

Survey for Parents of Students with Individual Education Plans (IEPs)
Each year the Georgia DOE sends a parent engagement survey to gather feedback regarding our special education services. Currently our school has the lowest completion rate 2/22 parents (9%). Please see the message below and kindly complete the survey if your student is serviced in our special education program. Thanks in advance for your help.
Dear CSD parents/guardians of students with disabilities under IDEA, The IDEA Parent Survey will be open from January 15, 2020 – May 31, 2020. The IDEA Parent Survey helps the state to determine parents’ perception of the success of parent engagement between the local school and themselves. The information is gathered as a component of the State Performance Plan, Indicator 8: Percent of parents with a student receiving special education services who report that schools facilitated parent involvement as a means of improving results for children with disabilities. The data collected is reported in the Annual Performance Report and on the system profile about each system. Each state is required to conduct a parent survey collection process to measure parent/family needs and perceptions. Georgia’s parent survey is available to all families of students with disabilities. The survey will be administered through an online link and can be found on the websites listed below. Direct link to the parent survey: www.gadoe.org/Parent-Survey Websites: GaDOE http://www.gadoe.org/ci_exceptional.aspx or Ga Parent Mentor Partnership www.parentmentors.org or Parent to Parent of Georgia www.p2pga.org For Technical Assistance please contact: Problems with the online survey: Submit a dticket@doe.k12.ga.us or call 800-869-1011.
