Mr. Aleman's Monday Mail

Where you know what we know so we all know

Week of May 4, 2015

Quote of the Week

But the person who scored well on an SAT will not necessarily be the best doctor or the best lawyer or the best businessman. These tests do not measure character, leadership, creativity, perseverance.

-William Julius Wilson

We have been discussing ORGANISMS & ENVIRONMENT. Last week we talked about ECOSYSTEMS & FOOD WEBS. We learned about how food webs show a TRANSFER OF ENERGY that begins with the sun and continues on throughout producers and consumers.

This week we are investigating ADAPTATIONS. Adaptations are inherited traits that organisms use to survive and reproduce. There are EXTERNAL & INTERNAL ADAPTATIONS. Turtles have shells that allow them to survivor predator attacks. Bears hibernate in the winter so they don't freeze. We will also discuss the difference between INHERITED TRAITS & LEARNED BEHAVIORS.

  • Don't forget to return the LETTER OF INTENT & iPAD FORMS.
