News from CCSD 89
Parents should check students for COVID-19 symptoms at home
Families must check their children’s health each day and keep them home if they have COVID-19 symptoms. Students should not be sent to school if they are positive for COVID-19, have COVID-19 symptoms, or have been in contact with someone who is COVID-19 positive. Families can use this chart (https://bit.ly/3jyrv3y) as a starting point when determining whether your student needs to be quarantined or isolated. School nurses or your family’s doctor can help answer questions.
The school will send notifications to all families when a student or staff member who was in the school tests positive. The latest COVID-19 information will continue to be posted at www.ccsd89.org/COVID
The district reviews any positive case with the health department for signs of spread or outbreak within a school. Families would be notified if the health department recommended any attendance change for all or part of the school.
Volunteers need to show proof of vaccination or participate in rapid testing
Community members that regularly volunteer at schools and are not vaccinated against COVID-19 can continue volunteer if they participate in a BinaxNOW test on the day they are scheduled to volunteer. The volunteer would need to come to the school at least 20 minutes prior to volunteering. The volunteer would need to fill out the BinaxNOW consent form: https://bit.ly/3t875Sq
All volunteers will need to submit this form at the school. Families that are simply stopping by the school for a few minutes to make a quick drop off or pick up are not required to fill out the form or test.
Be sure to review requirements before bringing food for other students
