Community Forum for Equity

Vista Unified is holding a series of Equity Community Forums to create opportunities for students, parents, staff, and community members to get involved and become part of our efforts to create an inclusive, culturally sensitive, and positive learning environment for all students.

The next Equity Community Forum is scheduled for Thursday, April 29, 2021. You can access the meeting by using the following Zoom Link. Community Forum Flyer (English) (Spanish)

State Testing for 11th Grade Students

Next month, all Vista Unified high schools will administer the CAASPP English and math exams to all juniors. Students who exhibit proficiency on both (or either) exams will qualify for exemption from placement tests for credit-eligible English and math courses in college. MVHS has a history of high-performance on these exams (1st in the County in English and 4th in the County for math during the last testing administration), and we hope to keep that trend going.

11th-grade students will test in their English or history class; those without an English or history class this term will be summoned to the gym to test on the designated testing dates.

Women in STEM Symposium

This past week, our Women in STEM Club hosted the third annual Women in STEM Symposium, featuring an incredible panel of women who are thriving in STEM fields. Evie C., a senior, facilitated the panel with the help of our very own Ms. German. The panel was inspiring, and we recorded the event so anyone interested can watch at his/her leisure.

Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Workshop for Students and Parents

The San Diego County Office of Education is hosting a FREE mental health and suicide prevention event next month. All students in grades 6-12, and their parents, are invited to participate in the Mind Out Loud program, which will run (virtually) from May 4-6, 3:30-5:00pm. This year has been difficult for us all, and the event will provide meaningful information, content, and strategies for coping with mental health challenges.

Please see the attached flyer for more information.
