What's happening at Park Elementary!
Week 6 is in the books
In spite the restrictions and precautions in school these days, we are having a great time at Park Elementary! We're learning how to read, writing stories, playing math games, running races, chatting with our friends and celebrating each day we have in school. We even have a cool outdoor tent classroom to use where students can take off masks and be safely distanced. I am so proud of our resilient kids.
Flowchart of symptoms
Schools are required to follow the flowchart below and while it can be frustrating, we need to do our part to keep the school open so all our little peanuts can come to in-person learning every day. We extend a huge THANK YOU to each and every parent for your patience, following the rules and for the extra work we know this involves.

New teachers at park
Cassie Mullen ~ Cassie is joining our Park team as the new STEAM teacher. Cassie and her husband recently moved back to Michigan from Utah. We are thrilled to get her on our staff as our new STEAM teacher. Cassie previously taught 5th grade in a STEM school in Utah and has a true passion for science and STEM education.
Abbey Marlette ~ Abbey took over the upper level CI classroom. We are so thrilled to have her join the team and share her expertise. She has earned her Master’s in ASD, has taught 5th grade and ASD in Northview Public Schools and most recently comes to Park from Spring Lake Schools where she was teaching in their ASD categorical program.
Jordan Wiebenga ~ We celebrate that Jordan has officially become a member of the Park teaching team. You may recognize him because he has been around Park in various capacities for many years and has been a positive support for students and staff as he completed his degree. Jordan joins the 5th grade team this year.
Laura Beckett ~ Laura has worked as a district instructional coach supporting elementary teachers to implement effective instructional strategies and curriculum in Hudsonville for several years. She has been with HPS for many years, teaching in grades PK-4 at both Forest Grove and Jamestown prior to coming to Park. She recently decided to go back to the classroom and step away from her coaching role. We feel very lucky to have the opportunity to get her on Park’s team!

Halloween Fall Celebrations
This year for our Halloween Fall Celebrations we are looking forward to having parties in our classrooms, much like years past. This year will be slightly different, in a couple of ways.
Sadly, parents and volunteers will not be able to attend. (We will miss you!)
Snacks can be sent in, but need to be store bought and individually packaged.
Games, crafts, and snacks need to be sent in 24 hours in advance (or more).
There will be more information about signing up to bring items as we get closer to the date.
Like in previous years, we will be welcoming your children to wear costumes if they wish. Children will be able to wear their costumes to school in the morning. The intent behind this is to limit children gathering in the restrooms to change and limit the number of children needing assistance from teachers and staff to get into their costumes. We invite you to send your children in a costume that includes no weapons or gore, and easily allows your child to participate in regular school routines and procedures. Can they take it off themselves to use the bathroom? Can they fit in their seat at their desk? Can they go down the slide or sit in the swings? Can they wear a mask under their “mask”? Please save bulky or extravagant costumes for home use and dress in a fun, simple costume for the school day. Fall or pumpkin t-shirts are a great alternative as well.
We are thrilled at the opportunity to celebrate with your children, and look forward to creating another fun and memorable school event for them. We'll be sure to get lots of great pictures!

Hot Lunch is available everyday to all students FREE of charge. Menu's, Free and Reduced Information, nutrition information can all be found on the Jenison/Hudsonville Food Service Home page. Please note that milk alone (not as part of the full school lunch) is not free.
