Back To School Edition
Welcome Back to School!
In just one week, we will officially begin the 2018 – 2019 school year. I am excited for the first day, and as much as I hate to see the less structured days of summer end, I cannot wait for the opportunity to meet students. We are in for a great year! I know the faculty and staff are just as eager as I am to get going, and of the few students I have already met, they are ready to be “back” as well.
I am deeply impressed and inspired by our teacher’s commitment to provide our students the best possible education, while giving them the experiences and encouragement to build confidence and thrive as they prepare for the next stage of their lives. Over this past week during faculty meetings, we focused on ways to make that even more powerful this year, concentrating on improving the student experience for ALL as we seek to define what it means to be a part of the Atholton community.
As we look ahead to this school year, there will be a some changes. I’ll share a few things now:
- In order to reduce distractions and keep our students focused on being present in the moment, we are asking all headgear to be removed upon entering the building. This includes:
o Hats and hoods (hoodies)
o Earbuds
o Over the ear headphones (Beats, etc.)
o Students may use their earbuds and headphones during their lunch period
- We ask that all students arrive to school ON TIME (by 7:25 am)
- Food and drink (except for water) will be consumed only in the cafeteria.
We are asking for your support as we seek to create a highly effective learning environment.
Let me assure you, this is going to be a banner year for Atholton. We are in the process of preparing for a special Senior Kickoff-- more information to follow.
In closing, I am thrilled to return to this amazing community and I thank you all for entrusting Atholton with your most precious gems – your children.
Warmly,
Robert A. Motley
Principal
