Resources for Students
Students received their first progress report several weeks ago. This is an excellent time for students to reflect on how the quarter has gone so far. For students who may be looking to improve, the progress report can serve as a springboard for conversations with teachers. In addition, this is a great time for students to familiarize themselves with the many resources they have available to them for support. Listed below are some of the resources available to students at Watertown High School. We encourage students to speak with their school counselor or teacher if they need assistance accessing any of these supports.
Math Lab – The Math Lab is available to students throughout the school day and, by appointment, after school. Mr. Nazarchuk can help students review material from class, prepare for upcoming tests or quizzes, or review work. Students can ask their teacher to connect them with Mr. Nazarchuk, or email him directly at stanislav.nazarchuk@watertown.k12.ma.us.
Peer Tutoring – Peer tutoring is offered in collaboration with the National Honor Society at various times throughout the year. Students can work with a teacher or their school counselor to be paired with an NHS tutor. Stay tuned for more information!
Technology Tips - Ms. Spillert (Digital Learning Specialist) and Ms. Piazza (School Librarian) are great resources for tips and tricks with technology and organization.
Online Resources - We have compiled several resources from previous Guidance events and presentations and posted them on our Guidance website in the Grade-Specific Resources section. Some may require a WPS email to view. There are links to:

Counseling – Aside from school counselors, WHS has a variety of mental health counselors available to students who may be struggling with a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, and grief. To access these counselors, students are encouraged to speak with their school counselor.

Optional 9th Grade Tours
As the high school's hybrid return date approaches, we understand that some 9th-grade students may be feeling worried or anxious about entering an unfamiliar building. To help students get a building preview, we will be providing opportunities for 9th graders or those new to the school to tour the building before classes begin.
Students who have requested a tour were notified on Wednesday, November 11 of their tour date and time. At this point, if students are interested in a tour, please contact Ms. Eaton (adrienne.eaton@watertown.k12.ma.us) as soon as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you on the November 20 tour date.

Special Opportunities
We are still accepting student requests for the HOBY Leadership Conference. Each year, Watertown High School 10th graders have had the opportunity to participate in the annual Hugh O'Brian Youth Leadership Seminar. This weekend-long seminar provides participants with opportunities to develop and improve their leadership skills, hear from community and business leaders, and partner with students from around the state on group service projects. This year the event will be held virtually on May 1 & 2, 2021. The registration fee is $225 and registration is limited to seven 10th graders. If 10th graders are interested, they should contact their school guidance counselor to learn more about the nomination process. More information about state leadership seminars can be found here.
