The Renaissance was a time of logical thinking. A lot of people began to question the church and its beliefs. Education, learning, writing and art were areas where huge advancements were made.
It's Effect on Society
People were gaining a better understanding of the world. The church lost a lot of its power. People began to focus more on human potential and achievements. society was becoming more secular or worldly and non-religious.
Renaissance Men
Leonardo Da Vinci
Leonardo Da Vinci was a famous painter, sculptor, inventor, architect, engineer, etc. He was a prime example of a Renaissance man. He had thousands of sketches, drawings, and writings but only 17 of his paintings survived. His most famous was the Mona Lisa.
Michelangelo
Michelangelo was also a famous Renaissance man of many talents. He was mostly known for portaying the human body. His most famous works of art were The David & The Sistine Chapel.
Dante
Dante was a major Renaissance poet and writer. He wrote in the vernacular language or his native language so more people had access to his literature. His most famous literary work was Dante's Inferno based the different levels of Hell.
It's Effect on Society Today
The Renaissance had many effects on the societies of today. Education probably would not have been where it is today without it. The huge contributions of art, writing, science, many other areas of discovery made a lot of the cultures what they are today.
