What's going on in the classroom!

Reading: We are reviewing our nonfiction reading objectives, and students are reviewing the different ways figurative language can be expressed in the English language. Metaphors, similes, alliteration, idioms, hyperbole, and onomatopoeia are types of figurative language we are learning.

Writing: We are doing research on our countries. Students learned how to conduct research in the media center and the computer lab this week.

Math: We are looking at ways we can divide polygons into fractions and how 1/2 is not always a 1/2. (1/2 of a hexagon is a different 1/2 than a trapezoid). Soon we will move to understanding how to tell time to the minute and how to determine elapsed time.

Social Studies: We are learning the three branches of government. To demonstrate how the three branches work together we will have a mock government in our class. A president and vice president have been elected based upon characteristics the students themselves decided were important as class leaders. Many congratulations to President Brady Childs and Vice President Dylan Katafiasz!!!
