Junior High Honours Program

Are you interested in the Junior High Honours Program for next school year? For the 2022-23 school year, there’s an opportunity for students to register in the grades 8 and 9 Junior High Honours Program at Ardrossan Junior Senior High, but the school will only be able to offer the program if eligible student interest meets minimum enrolment numbers.

Students must have a minimum mark of 80 per cent in each of the four core subjects to be eligible to apply to the Junior High Honours program. Conditional acceptance will be confirmed in early-March based on a student’s marks in the four core subject areas, as of February 28. Students must maintain their honours standing on the year-end report card in June to receive final acceptance in the Honours program for the upcoming year.

The Junior High Honours program is designed for students in grades 8 and 9 with high achievement in their core courses and who enjoy a challenging academic environment. Students in the program will follow the Alberta Education Programs of Study. Learn more about the Junior High Honours program.

If you’re interested in registering your child in the Junior High Honours program, a separate form will be sent to all AJS grade 7 and 8 families early in the month of February. The information gathered will help determine if there’s enough interest with the Ardrossan Junior Senior High school community to offer the Junior High Honours program at the school for the 2022-23 school year.

AJS School Council is excited to begin a weekly staff recognition initiative! The staff at AJS go above and beyond to care for our kids every single day. What better way to say "thank you" than with a staff kudos!

Parents and students are welcome to fill out the Google form below, offering meaningful recognition to ANY member of the AJS staff. Your positive message will then be shared with the intended recipient.

High School Information Nights

To help you make an informed decision about high school, senior high schools throughout Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) are hosting information sessions for all Grade 9 students and their families. The sessions allow students and families to meet the staff; tour the school; learn about the curriculum, course offerings and alternative programming available; discuss diploma requirements and various career paths; plus, more. Decisions about whether each event will take place virtually or in-person will be made closer to each date. Refer to the event calendar on each school website for details in the coming weeks. Make sure to take part to learn everything you need to know about the Division’s senior high programs and courses.

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) will once again conduct an online returning student registration process to confirm student registrations for the 2022-23 school year. Families of all current students—with the exception of graduating Grade 12 students—must complete the process to confirm the school their child plans to attend in the 2022-23 school year or advise the Division of their plans not to return to EIPS. Additionally, students who want to attend a non-designated school need to make that request through the returning student registration process—acceptance is based on available space. The 2022-23 returning student registration takes place February 1-28, 2022.

Access to the Returning Student Registration Form is provided through the PowerSchool Parent Portal. If you don’t have a PowerSchool Parent Portal account, you need to set one up before Feb. 1, 2022.
