RCS Curriculum and Instruction
News You Can Use
“We are now at a point where we must educate our children in what no one knew yesterday, and prepare our schools for what no one knows yet.” Margaret Mead
Curriculum Vision
Many of you may have been wondering where RCS is headed. I have been observing classes, listening to teachers, parents, and stakeholders, and studying the data.
Our curriculum and instruction vision:
-infused Catholic identity into the curriculum and instructional practices
-rigorous, standards-based educational opportunities
-individualized instruction to connect to students' passions and needs
"How do I teach?" not "What do I teach?"
We must move away from the notion that the purpose of writing curriculum is to produce a product. We must embrace the fact that curriculum review is about IMPROVING INSTRUCTION!
Our curriculum review cycle will take place in three phases.
Phase 1: Establish the Foundation
Phase 2: Curriculum Camp
Phase 3: Implementation through PLCs and Staff Development
