2023 Fall Alumni Band
The Pride of Lyons Marching Band would like to invite all Lyons Band Alumni to join us for the Fall Homecoming football game on Friday, September 22.
Please email Mr. Scherer (ascherer@usd405.com) if you plan to participate! Let me know if you are able to provide your own instrument and flip folder or if you will need to borrow one.
Call time will be 5:00 PM in the band room.
Alumni will warm-up and rehearse with the band and then march in parade block to the stadium. Alumni will perform the following tunes on the field with the band:
"Lyons Alma Mater" during the Homecoming Ceremony
"LHS Fight Song" in the pre-game tunnel
"Holiday" after the LHSMB halftime show
Alumni will join the band in the stands during the game. Sheet music is available. Email Mr. Scherer for the password.
We encourage you to wear your Lyons Band T-Shirt if you have one. New shirts may be purchased for $15. Or you may wear any blue or white Lyons shirt or jacket.
HS Volleyball 3rd at Marion Spikefest: Belote All-Tournament Team
Congratulations to the LHS volleyball team for their 3rd place finish at the Marion Spikefest this past Saturday! Congratulations to Sierra Belote who was named to the all-tournament team!
LHS AFJROTC Receives Top Mark at State Fair
The Lyons High School Air Force Junior ROTC cadet corps color guard marched in the Kansas State Fair Band Days parade and received I+ ratings from all three judges. Congrats to the cadets and leaders! You are off to a great start!
LHS Band Continues Outstanding Ratings Streak
Over the past three years, the Pride of Lyons Marching Band has had a streak of Outstanding ratings including this year's Kansas State Fair parade and Kansas State Fair arena performance. Way to go Mr. Scherer and LHS band!
LHS Tennis Team Wins Double Dual
The LHS girls' tennis team had a very successful showing at their own double dual last week. The LHS team earned first place with 14 team points over Ashland and St John with 7 and 6 team points respectively. Great job ladies and coaches!
Reality U at Lyons Middle School
Reality U is a financial education simulation during which 8th and 10th graders experience a day in the life of their 26-year-old selves. They learn about how their grades in school now impact their financial futures through college and career and life choices. This year, there were also panel discussions and an evening with parents to discuss the simulation.
Cross Country Teams Running Well
The middle school and high school cross country teams are experiencing success and continued improvement through this early part of the season. The medalists from last week's St John meet follow. Varsity Girls: Jojo Vargas - 15th, Marianna Boese - 17th. Varsity Boys: Cain Villasenor - 12th, Paco Espinoza - 19th. Junior Varsity Boys: Edgard Zuniga - 5th, Ricardo Tapia - 7th. 7th grade boys: Aaron Villasenor - 3rd, Adahir Rivera - 5th.
Central Students Selected for Elementary Honor Choir
Congrats to Central Elementary music teacher Mrs. Kaylee Brooks and to six of her students who were selected for the South Central Kansas Elementary Honor Choir. Central Fifth Graders selected include: Andrew Chapman, Arianny Espino, Opal Keesling, Taverli Timberlake, Caitlin Thurman, and April Wuthnow. Congrats also to three students who were selected for the honor choir, but had to decline due to prior commitments with their football team -- Kolt Andrews, Gabe Miller, and Owen Oviatt.
LHS Juniors Visit Wichita State University Tech
Lyons High School juniors traveled to Park City to visit WSU Tech to speak to office and instructional staff about opportunities at the school and in the job market.
