At conferences you received information to sign in to your child's digital portfolio. Right now we have about 20/53 signed up! We would LOVE for you to be able to see all of the hard work your children are doing in 4th grade! Please let us know if you need help signing in!
Dates to Note:
March 7: Timber Tail Day!
March 8: Music Demo Day @ Lineville
March 10: Spring Carnival!
LAST CHANCE TO GIVE YOUR FEEDBACK!
Team ZavTop tried something new with our conferences this spring! As you know, each family met with us as a team, and had 10 minutes (Instead of 15) to discuss your child's progress. Because we communicate with our families frequently, we thought this would have been ample time to discuss your child's growth/progress in 4th grade, keeping in mind that some would like more time, we offered additional time slots when necessary. Please help us decide is this is something we should continue in the future! Thank you!
This week in 4th grade...
Math: This week we continued to practice conversions in both the customary and metric systems. We are also beginning to learn about perimeter and area! Please encourage your child to use Splash Math and watch the video tutorials in our Math Course in Schoology to practice conversions.
Writers Workshop: Students are working on their sections of their biography piece. They need to have notes and organized sections for their information to teach their audience about their person. There are samples in Schoology as well!
Reading: This week we focused paraphrasing and how it's important for our comprehension as a reader and also as a writer to avoid plagiarism.
Science: We will be continuing to work though the scientific process next week. Your child will be focusing on the "Making observations" & "Conclusion" portion of our PHEOC model.
