Miss Cleasby's 4K News

News for the week of February 17th

Dental Heath and Nutrition Theme

This week our theme will be dental health and nutrition. We will be making an "Apple Smiles" cooking project this Thursday. In your child's folder this week will be a chart to encourage them to brush their teeth twice daily. If your child completes the chart on Friday: send it to school and they will receive a special certificate. All students will receive a new toothbrush on Friday to encourage healthy dental habits! Our dramatic play center will be turned into a "doctor's office" for the week.

Craft Night Thank You!

Thanks to everyone for making the craft night last week such a great success! I truly appreciate all the help I had in making it a special night for the 4K students and families. Also, thank you to those who brought treats and drinks. If anyone has any pictures or videos of the student's singing at craft night and would be willing to share them with me I would really appreciate it. Jolly Phonics

Our Jolly Phonics letter of the week is "R. The action for the letter "R" sound is to pretend to be a puppy pulling a rag, with clenched and shaking head say rrrrrr. See the Jolly Phonics Letter "R" video below.

Name Writing

We have started to practice writing our name the "Kindergarten Way" (first letter an uppercase letter and lowercase letters for the rest of their name). Please look for a name writing packet in your child's folder this Monday. This can be used to practice their name writing at home. We use the Handwriting Without Tears language for our letters and this will be explained in the packet we send home. If you are practicing it with your child at home and would like more practice sheets don't hesitate to ask for more sheets!
