Great Start to New Year
Don't forget to have your child's field trip permission slip signed and returned. Students will not be able to attend a field trip without the note on file in the office. We have some great things lined up for our students this year and we are so happy to have your child with us.
Our Buckaroo Race will be held on October 26th. This event is our biggest fundraiser for our PTO. Every student in the school will get a free t-shirt. We are currently looking for sponsors at $100 each to pay for the shirts. If you want to promote your business, this is a great way to advertise. All sponsors will have their name/business on the back of the shirts. Families are welcome to sponsor, too!
Plan now to attend this event....it is a lot of fun! More information will be coming home in October.

Counselor's Corner
What a great start to the new school year. I am enjoying getting to know each of your children, who for the most part, are eager to be here learning new things, and making new friends. There are still a few tears at morning drop off. It is natural for young children to feel anxious when leaving their home and family. In most cases, this feeling will ease as school becomes a natural routine. Some things you can do to help are:
1. Help your child focus on the positive. Discuss the great things about school with them. Let them know you will be asking them later in the evening what the great things about their day were. This way, they will be looking for positives throughout the day.
2. Say your goodbyes quickly. A quick kiss, hug, or hand signal works much better than stalling and long drawn out goodbyes, which can make the situation seem worse than it is.
3. Let your child know how he or she will be getting home and who will be there for them after school. If you say you will see them after school, make it a point to be there after school.
4. Stay constant as possible with evening and morning routines.
5. Stay calm and positive.
6. Praise your child’s efforts.
I look forward to an exciting school year with you and your child.

A few reminders...
- Using the car visor tags speeds up the student pick up in the afternoon. If you need an extra car visor tag, please let your teacher know. Sometimes we recognize you, but our filing system can be slow at times (brain) and your child's name does not pop up right away! VISOR TAGS make your wait time shorter, so PLEASE help us get you out of the line faster by using the tags.
- Don't forget that although the door may be unlocked in the morning, we do not start duties until 7:20 a.m. Your child is not being monitored in the morning until 7:20 a.m. For his/her safety, please do not leave them unattended.
- Classroom instruction begins at 7:50 a.m. Please make sure your child is here and ready to learn before 7:50 a.m. Students are tardy at 7:55 a.m.
- If you change the way your child is going home in the afternoon, please call your teacher's extension before 2:00 p.m. Also, make sure you send your teacher a written message or a message on DOJO if you are making changes to their afternoon departure.
- We have a few "One Town, One Tribe" t-shirts remaining for $12. Sizes available are: Youth X Small, Youth Small, and Adult Large, X-Large, and 2XL.
