Summary
Esperanza talks about how happy she is that she moved into a new house withe her family, a house that they actually own. Then she talks about how this house isn't even the house her and her family want to live in because there is such bad influence around her. Esperanza later on focuses on buying herself an own house.

Character Analysis for Espernaza
Trait 1: Responsible
Evidence: Esperanza and her sister are on they're way home and are stopped by a drunk man. Esperanza grabs her sister hands and leaves.
Trait 2: Persistent
Evidence: Esperanza does not like having to rent a home or living in a bad neighborhood with bad influence , so she buys a house of her own at the end of the story.

Important Event
Esperanza's family was renting a home at first and did not like it because they had to be careful about what they did; later on the they moved to a "better" home, but then Esperanza wanted to move into a house of her own.
Recommendation
I would recommend this book to young teens, so they can see the struggle of others who cannot afford an average house.
