Before break, the first graders shared their outreach projects from their Living Systems Integrated Unit of Study. Take a look at the images below that show families learning all about living systems from their children.

Kindergarten Family Study

Before break, the kindergarteners hosted a Family Pot Luck and shared foods with one another. They enjoyed trying new foods and learning more about their friends.

Laundry Coop Help Needed for May and June

We have drastically reduced our consumption of paper towels in the past few months! Kids (and adults too) are now reaching for reusable towels and rags to clean tables for snack and lunch and to clean up any water spills throughout the day.

Thanks to all of the families who signed up to take a laundry shift or two so far. April is now covered thanks to your help! We still have spots available for May and June. Please sign up if you are able to help. Thanks so much!

News from the Family School Collaborative

The Family School Collaborative is our Compass parent group. It's much like a PTA at other schools. The FSC meets monthly at our school and has four co-chairs (2 parents and 2 staff members). If you would like to join this parent group, please join us for our next meeting.

More info about the FSC can be found here.

Snack Prep Duties

Thank you to everyone who has helped with snack prep so far! There are still several April spots open if you have time to swing by. Sign up here, and if you can’t or don’t want to sign up online please email directly.

We need volunteers Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Starting around 1:15 in the Community Room, prepping and delivering snack takes less than 1/2 hour, and if you can stay a little longer to help wash the plates that’s a bonus. We appreciate your help!

Here's how it works in 3 easy steps:
1. Click this link to go to our invitation page on VolunteerSpot:
2. Enter your email address: (You will NOT need to register an account on VolunteerSpot)
3. Sign up! Choose your spots - VolunteerSpot will send you an automated confirmation and reminders. Easy!

And thank you to everyone who caught up on snack dues earlier this month…will be sending another reminder near the end of the month. Happy Spring!

This Week is Compass Spirit Week!

We are excited to announce the first ever Compass Spirit Week will be taking place the week of March 30-April 2.

What is Compass Spirit Week?

Compass Spirit Week is a celebratory week to show our Compass Spirit and dress up in student-selected themes for each day.

Why Spirit Week?

The purpose of spirit week is to bring the Compass Community together in support of our school. The week serves to get students and staff involved, excited, and working cooperatively and united on a common goal.

How will it work?

We asked each class to select one of our themes for the week...and the winning themes were:

  • Monday 3/30: Pajama Day. Wear your coziest pajamas to school on Monday!
  • Tuesday 3/31: Costume Day. Choose a favorite costume to wear on Tuesday!
  • Wednesday 4/1: Favorite Color Day. Wear as much of your favorite color as possible on Wednesday!
  • Thursday 4/2: Dress Up Day. Dress up in your fanciest outfit to wear on Thursday!

If your child would like to participate in Compass Spirit Week, they can dress up in the theme for each day (instead of wearing their Compass T-Shirts) !

We can't wait to see all of the Compass Spirit in our community!
