NEWS FROM OUR GUIDANCE DEPARTMENT
The character trait for May is trustworthiness. Our monthly counseling classroom lesson will also include the topic of problem solving. Throughout the month of May we will be recognizing Mental Health Awareness Month. This year's campaign More Than Enough is focused on recognizing self-worth and value. “Showing up, just as you are, for yourself and the people around you is more than enough.”

Kindergarten 2023/2024
Kindergarten Orientation - May 26th @ 2:15 PM.
The administration will give parents information about the school. The future Kindergarteners will take a short bus ride and experience what a Kindergarten classroom will be like with a teacher (not necessarily their teacher for next year.). The orientation will take place in the AES All Purpose Room.
Kindergarten Screening (Only if you have registered a student) - June 5, 6, 7, 13, 14, or 15
To provide the district and teachers with more information about the readiness of your child, assist with the creation of class lists, and provide our kindergarten teachers with information about your child prior to the school year. This is not designed to determine acceptance. The screening is not mandatory. Sign Up and more information will follow.
Staff Member of the month
Our May Staff Member of the Month is Tina Muldoon. Congratulations!!
Mrs. Muldoon has lived in Sparta for 19 years and has been the cafeteria manager at Alpine for 7 1/2 years. Her favorite part of her job is when the students try new foods and take their fruits and vegetables! She loves getting to hear their stories and listen to their knock-knock jokes. Mrs. Muldoon is also very appreciative of her hard-working team! Her hope for the remainder of the school year is for everyone to find joy in each day. When Mrs. Muldoon isn't at Alpine, she loves to spend time with her husband, two teenagers, two cats, and a husky. She enjoys baking, reading, and taking care of all her house plants. Mrs. Muldoon is also a fan of food puns!
Congratulations again to Mrs. Muldoon!
PE Update
Happy May!
To kick off the month, we are starting to practice for the annual Spartan Run. The Spartan Run will be next Thursday, May 11. Second grade will be aiming to do two laps around the course, with minimal walking. First grade and kindergarten will be aiming to do one lap around the course with minimal walking. To prepare, we will be having the students jogging in the gym (if it is raining) and outside.
We ask that you help encourage your child, as well as make sure they are dressed appropriately for this. If your child has PE in the morning, please make sure they are dressed appropriately and have sneakers; if they are not wearing sneakers they will not be able to participate that day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. Thank you!
