Revealing our School Surprise
Last year, our school learned about Malala and her passion for equal education for all. We learned about the struggles she endured lobbying the government of Pakistan to improve education for girls.
In connection to this, we continued to expand our learning through the story of Shannen's Dream. She was a 16 year old First Nations student who believed in the importance of education and equality for all children. The school she attended was a portable without a gym or library. Shannen felt that First Nation students in Canada should be entitled to the same education as all other students and lobbied the government for change.
We have a surprise guest speaker that will be coming to present us with a very special gift to represent and honour the value of education for all.
Our class will be singing Diamonds in the Snow and we would like you to join us at this very special assembly.
