Spring State Testing
It is hard to believe how far we are into 2nd semester already and quickly approaching state assessments. On March 9th our Juniors will be taking the state mandated ACT assessment, an important assessment that is also used for many college entrance requirements. There will be NO school on March 9th for 9/10/12th graders to ensure a quiet testing environment. Later this spring, our Freshmen and Sophomores will be taking the ACT-ASPIRE, Sophomores will also be taking the Forward Social Studies Exam. More details to come on the assessments dates for Freshmen and Sophomores. Please note that if you have ALL Virtual students they will be required to come on-site for testing.
With each assessment, we plan to review students’ results to:
- Monitor individual student achievement,
- Analyze our instruction as it aligns to Wisconsin State Standards,
- Allow us to compare the results with other students across Wisconsin, and
- Provide data for meeting state and federal achievement guidelines.
We ask for your help as parents to simply encourage your child to do his or her best. Some children may become anxious about testing situations. Your encouragement and reassurance for your child to just do their best is helpful. A positive attitude goes a long way in making a child feel comfortable about being tested.
Upcoming Events:
Monday, March 8th - Juniors: get a good night's rest!!!
Tuesday, March 9th - Juniors take the ACT exam
NO School for 9th, 10th and 12th graders to allow for quiet testing environment
Monday, March 15th - No School due to Staff Professional Development Day
March 29 - April 2 - Spring Break
Blended Learning Attendance and Expectations
If your child remains home due to illness or possible COVID-19 symptoms, please call the office. We will leave their class attendance open for teachers to check to see if the student is present online (PR-OL in PowerSchool). If your student is not logging into BlueJeans for class, then you will know due to their absence being marked in PowerSchool.
There are times that students are marked absent due to being tardy and then teachers email the office to change attendance at the end of the day. The reason this does not happen immediately is because teachers are teaching students in person and aren't able to check the log until the end of class. While it isn't a perfect system, it is the best we can do while prioritizing teaching and learning.

From the School Nurse
Dear Dodgeland Parents/Guardians,
We are in the middle of winter and like every year (and especially this year) we see cold and flu symptoms develop. To help us mitigate colds, flu, and COVID-19 in our building, we ask that you follow these recommendations:
If your child is not feeling well in the morning, and has cold, flu, or COVID-19 symptoms, please keep your child home.
If your child is ill, your child cannot return to school until he/she is symptom-free, and without the use of medication to reduce fever for 24 hours. If your child returns to school before the 24 hours has expired, we will call to ask that you pick up your child.
If your child is diagnosed with anything contagious, such as strep throat, the flu, or COVID-19, please let the school secretaries know or call me, the school nurse.
If your child has Covid-19 symptoms, we recommend that he/she gets tested. We ask that if your child gets tested that you let us know as soon as possible the results so that we can do contact tracing if needed.
Any questions feel free to call me, Lynnae Shaw, at 386-4404, ext. 1006.
Thank you for partnering with us to keep our schools healthy, safe, and open.
Sincerely,
Lynnae Shaw, RN BSN
