Cold War summary
The Cold War was a time when two super powers which were the u.s. and Russia had politcal tension between one another. There was propaganda which was used as a technique to make one side look better than the other side or make the oppising side look bad compared to them. This war was no war like others, this one had no physical contact but there was a lot of competing to see who was better. The sides were racing to see who was better at creating Nuclear bombs and to see who could do more in outer space. There was times when one side was doing better than the other espicially during the space race.
U-2
The 1960 U-2 incident occurred during the Cold War on 1 May 1960, during the presidency of Dwight Eisenhower and during the leadership of Soviet Premier Nikita Khrushchev, when a United States U-2 spy plane was shot down over the airspace of the Soviet Union. The United States government at first denied the plane's purpose and mission, but then was forced to admit its role as a covert surveillance aircraft.
Bay of Pigs
The Bay Of Pigs invasion refers to the CIA sponsored American attack of the Cuban government in order to overthrow Fidel Castro. It was a tricky plan to execute as US was not in war with Cuba then. Though the US planned to appear “not being involved” in this attack and declared about their non-intention to intervene in Cuban affairs.
Cuban Missile crisis
The Cuban Missile Crisis was the climax of the cold war between the US and USSR, this was a time when Russia decided to start putting nuclear war heads in Cuba so if there was any type of conflict between both super powers, all they would have to do is push a button and send many nuclear bombs on

People of the Cold War
Fidel Castro
Castro was a prime minister during the cold war of Cuba. He was said to be corrupt because of his doings but he was also said to have a positive impact for Cuba. Castro was successful in reducing illiteracy rates in Cuba but many found him to be an unjust ruler so he was overthrown out of office.
Harry Truman
When Truman ascended to the presidency on April 12, 1945. Truman found weaknesss in the u.s National security so he passed the National security act in 1947. Harry Truman was focusing on making sure the united nations stayed strong and made sure they could resolve their issues.
Richard Nixxon
SALT I/Anti-Ballistic Missile treaty which were among the first major treaties between the two states, and the eventual withdrawal of all American ground combat troops in Vietnam. Nixon's policies helped significantly lessen the threat of nuclear war and normalized relations between the two that eventually led the USSR to dissolve. President Nixxon had visited China in 1972 to resolve issues from the past and hopefully open trading markets between the two countries and this ultimately got the u.s where it is today in trade markets with China.
