How does the Earth's Magnetic Field affects compasses?

Earth's Magnetic Field affects compasses because of Earth's core. It is like a big bar magnet and at the North is the south end and South is the North end so the compass is attracted to the South end which is North.

How to read a compass?

To read a compass you need to draw your current point and your finishing point on your map. When that's done you match up your compass with you points and draw a line.After that you line up North on the compass with North on the map then you find the degree of your final destination and that’s how you read a compass.
