Awesome Job!
Kendal Edwards' (JLC) second graders used the Popplet app to organize their research information.
Emily Maloney (HMS) using Google Forms and Flubaroo when testing her students. Eighth grade HMS teachers are using Kahoot, Quizzes, and Quizlet whenever they can get their hands on technology.
Ruth Taylor (MST) is using Edpuzzle for flipped videos, having students use Quizlet to learn SC species, using Google Forms for student quizzes, and is using Grade Cam for quizzes and tests.
Brittany Boyd's (SMS) students are using the app 'Trading Cards' to write tweets about Renaissance artists. The app gives them a card with background information on historical figures. The students then summarized their person, and finally created a "tweet" as that person or about that person.
Miriam Norwood (SECC) is playing around more with Chatterpix. She plans for her students to present who they want to be class president after they conclude their study on the Presidency.

Website of the Week: Edublogs
Want a way to share what you're doing or encourage authentic writing for your students? Consider EduBlogs! Created by WordPress just for education, it's a way to create a beautiful blog with very little effort or stress.
There are so many ways to use a blog. It can be a learning journal where you share you thoughts, or a place to gather relevant information and ideas, or communicate with other people. While in the classroom, I used my Edublog as my parent website.
Students can create blogs that would allow them to connect with others through their written work. They can use it as a digital portfolio to showcase their learning for the school year. Educational blogs have also been used as an engagement and reflective assessment tool for accounting students and can improve educational outcomes (Joshi & Chugh, 2009).

We've Gone Google!
DCSD is a Google Apps for Education (GAFE) district. All staff and students have Google accounts in the DCSD Google domain to facilitate communication, collaboration and publishing work.
Although Google Drive and other Google tools are accessible, teachers will continue to use MS Outlook for their email.
If you've never accessed it before, your Google login is firstname.lastname@darlington.k12.sc.us. Your temporary password is Password1 and then you will be prompted to change your password.
If you're having trouble logging into your Google account, please see your school wizard or a member of the DCSD Digital Transformation Academy.
