SCHROEDER SNAPSHOTS
Feb. 24 - Mar. 6
From the Principal
This week each of us had the opportunity to enjoy and appreciate the production of
“Mary Poppins, Jr.,” a musical that provided the best of our students on stage and behind
the scenes. As I enjoyed the show I was so impressed with the outstanding leadership
Mrs. Dunnigan, Mrs. Connell, and Mrs. Loeffler provided in taking our students from tryouts
to a wonderful production of singing, choreography, lighting and sound, and so
much more – How fortunate we are to have students who are engaged in activities such as
this and so many other offerings. It’s a privilege for Grand Forks Public Schools to be
able to offer our students multiple activities beyond the classroom – activities that inspire
risk, growth, and a true sense of accomplishment!
As we near the end of February, and recognize our below-zero temperatures will soon be
a memory and spring is well on the way, we look forward to warmer weather and having
the opportunity to get outside again. As we move in to March I’d like to share some
upcoming events with you:
- Friday, Feb. 28 – No School for Students – Faculty Professional Development
- Thursday, Mar. 5 – P/T Conferences – 4-7 PM
- Friday, Mar. 6 – Big RED – Schroeder students exploratory/activity day
- Tuesday, Mar. 10 – P/T Conferences – 4-7 PM
- Wednesday, Mar. 18 – Friday, Mar. 20 – Spring Break

With much appreciation –

Schroeder 8th Graders
Participate in the Polar Plunge
This past Saturday, 34 Schroeder 8th graders participated in the North Dakota Special Olympics Polar Plunge. Participants raise money ($75 minimum) to take part. The students were members of the Bantam A Hockey team and the Schroeder Boys and Girls Basketball teams. All together, the 3 teams raised over $9400!! The Hockey team raised more money than any other team, with the Boys and Girls basketball team coming in 2nd and 3rd out of 14 teams. The money will be used to purchase equipment for Special Olympic Athletes. You can check out a video of the plunge at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYobIJsEgdU
FROM THE COUNSLERS:
Summer School Information
6th and 7th grade English and Math:
The Grand Forks School District is offering summer school English and Math for 6th
and 7th grade students. Summer school runs from June 1 – June 25 from 8:00–10:00
or 10:00–12:00 or from 8:00–12:00 if you take both classes. Summer school can assist
students in retaining information as well as learning new information that will assist
them in future years. Schroeder school counselors Mr. Bommersbach/Ms. Litzinger
will be mailing letters home at the end of 3rd quarter (end of March) to students who
have been recommended by the Schroeder staff to attend summer school. If you did
not receive a letter and feel that your child would benefit from summer school, you
can register your child on the Schroeder Middle School website beginning April 1.
Please contact your child’s teacher/team if you have any concerns and want to know
exactly how your child is progressing.
9th grade global education:
8th grade students can register on the Schroeder Middle School website to take global education at Central High School from June 1 – July 7 from 7:45 – 12:25. Registration
is now open.
BOOSTER CLUB:
Basketball season is coming to a close and then a bulk of our concession sales will be over. If you've been wanting to volunteer and share your time, this is your chance! Click HERE to sign up. Thanks for considering!
7th grade pancake fundraiser
Hello Hawk and Eagle families,
On Friday, January 31, the 7th grade teachers sent home 5 tickets with each student for our last fundraiser of the year which is a Pancake Breakfast at the Ground Round. This event will be held on Saturday, March 7th from 7-9 a.m. Tickets are to be sold for $5 each and we will receive 100% of the profit as the Ground Round donates all food and drink. We just need to supply the workers.
Students that opted to fundraise for our Character Challenge Trip are expected to try and sell all of their tickets. However, all students will have a cash incentive and will receive $20 cash if they sell 20 tickets and $10 for each 10 tickets sold after that. A signup genius link to work at the breakfast is located at the bottom of the page. Anyone can sign up to work regardless of whether they need fundraising or not. We hope to see you there!
Thank you,
Hawk's and Eagle's Team
