Summary OF The Road To Revolution

The Revolutionary era was what freed us from British. The Revolutionary war started with one act the Boston Tea party. The people were very angry and they wanted to fight back by doing something so the dumped all the tea off three boats into the Boston Harbor. Then the battle of Lexington & Concord triggered the people to fight against the British. On 1776 Thomas Pain wrote a book called Common Sense witch really changed the way the people looked at there king. Then the Declaration of Independence was written to brake all ties to the British crown. Then the United States was born. The battle of Saratoga was the greatest victory yet for the american forces. This battle was one of the last battles that they will have to fight. The winter at Vally Forge was harsh and cold but it was preparation for battle. This also also tested the strength of the soldiers. The victory at Yorktown ended the fighting against the British, America had won. 2 years later after the battle of Yorktown the United States signed a peace treaty with paris and that is what ended the revolutionary war.

Lexington & Concord, 1775

1. Captain John Parker told his men "don't fire unless fired upon".

2. At the start of the battle a shot rang out and to this day no one know's who shot that round and that is what started the battle.

3. at the end of the battle there were 8 minutemen dead and 10 wounded.

Common Sense, 1776

1. The Common Sense pamphlet was distributed in Philadelphia in January 1776.

2. The author of the book was, Thomas Pain.

3. Pain reached a wide audience by writing as a common person speaking to common people.

1. The document were the colonist break from Great Britain.

2. Thomas Jefferson was the main author of the Declaration of Independence.

3. On July 4, 1776, the Continental Congress approved the Declaration of Independence.

Battle Of Saratoga, 1777

1. General John Burgoyne decided to push through New York and cut off the British.

2. Battle of Saratoga in New York was the turning point of the Revolutionary War.

3. this event will make one of the most brilliant pages of American History.

Winter @ Valley Forge, 1777-1778

1. The army was running low on food and clothing.

2. The soldiers built crude shelters witch provided very little protection.

3. During the winter 2,000 men died of disease and malnutrition.

Battle of Yorktown, 1781

1. At the beginning of the battle the were low on money to pay soldiers and buy supplies.

2. General Washington thought of a way to corner them so they proceeded with the plan and trapped the British and made them surrender.

3. The battle of York Town was the last major battle of the American Revolution.

Treaty of Paris, 1783

1. After the Battle of Yorktown only a few small battles took place.

2. In the treaty Great Britain recognized the independence of the United States.

3. The Revolution witch had started 1774 had ended 1783.
