Friar Laurence
Friar Laurence is to blame for Romeo and Juliet's death. Although he knew they were enemies, he still went through with getting them together. Friar Laurence knew that marrying Romeo and Juliet was not good for the couple, but Friar did it anyway thinking that it would end the feud. When Romeo asked Friar to marry them he had said no until, “I’ll thy assistant be; For this alliance may so happy prove To turn your households’ rancor to pure love” (2.3 95-100) .This marriage lead to one awful event after another. showing that their marriage was not meant to be since they are rivals.
Friar Laurence is to blame because he is the one who did not let the parents know that Romeo and Juliet were getting married so that lead to Juliet getting forced to almost marry Paris “If rather than to marry county Paris thou hast the strength of will to slay thyself” (4.1 70-72). Juliet is willing to take her life because she has to marry Paris but if her parents would of have known about her and Romeo she would not have to marry Paris.
