Our School day starts at 8.55am and finishes at 3pm. Morning tea is 10.30am to 10.55am. Lunch is from 1pm to 1.50pm. Please note the School grounds open at 8.30am, please do not drop your children off at school before this time as they cannot be supervised.


If you enter the School grounds for any reason between school hours, please come and sign in at the office first.


If you need to pick your child up during School hours, we ask that you sign them in and out at the office.


Whole School Assemblies take place every second Friday in Weka class, starting at 9.05am.


Our School App is our main communication tool (HERO) - go to https://hero.linc-ed.com/parents/ to set this up.


During Terms 1 and 4 ( Summer ) students are able to swim most days.

During Terms 2 and 3 ( Winter ) we often find students get wet at playtime - it's is good idea to pack a change of clothes.

School Uniform

Uniform is compulsory and is available to purchase from The Warehouse in Blenheim or online at https://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/c/schools/waikawa-bay-school


If you cannot find what you are looking for in store, please ask at Customer Services and they can order it in for you. WINZ quotes and layby are available. Up to 10% of all Schooltex labelled garments goes back to our School so please remember to nominate us at the checkout when purchasing uniform.


Second Hand Uniform: We have a stock of pre-loved uniform at the Office - you are welcome to come and see what sizes and items are available. We just ask for a koha/donation as payment. Feel free to drop in any unwanted uniform to the Office.

Stationery Fee

We provide all the stationery your child should need - the fee for this is set at the start of each academic year. We will send out an invoice when it is due. If your child starts part way through the year, we will send your invoice soon after they start.

Subway Thursdays

Thursday is Subway day - students can order a Subway lunch and have this delivered to school. You can go straight to the Subway website (see link below) or order at the office on Thursday mornings before 9am. Change from cash orders is kept in the office and can be collected by students/ caregivers at any time. We earn reward points from your online orders which we use to cater for School events.

Fundraising

We run occasional sausage sizzles and fundraising events in the community and often need a helping hand. We'd love to hear from you if you think you might be able to help now and again - we promise we won't overload you.


In addition, if you have a special skill, interest or hobby that we could utilise let us know - the more experiences we can offer the students the better.

If you have any questions, please always feel free to contact Haylee at the office, which is open from 8.30am to 3.15pm Monday to Friday during term time. Pop in or use one of the methods below:

Reporting your child absent

If your child is absent due to illness or for any other reason, please let the office know before 9am. You can use the school app, email or call. If your child is marked absent without an explanation, we will text or email an absence notification - just to ensure they are safe. It is important to respond if you receive one of these notifications.

Medication

If your child is required to take medication please tell the school the nature of the medication and why. You will be asked to fill out a permission form so that medication can be administered by the staff.

After School Care option

Picton OSCAR

Located at 5 Wairau Rd, Picton

After school – we pick children up from school at 3pm and provide fun activities until 5pm Monday – Friday during term time. $12 per day

Holiday Programme – we offer fun filled days from 830am till 5pm each day in the school holidays. $30 per day

We are WINZ affiliated so that Childcare subsidies can be used at OSCAR.
