Memorial Update
April 10, 2023
Hungry, Hungry Hippos in PE this week.
April 10, 2023
Good Morning Memorial Families,
This would be a great week to watch the weather! We will start the week in the 50s and end in the 80s, which can make figuring out what to wear really confusing! We recommend layers, as many of the kids will get warm in the sunshine on the playground. Our second and third floors get rather warm in the spring months, so having the option to switch to short sleeves is ideal, and don’t forget to pack a water bottle for your child. It is wild how quickly we transition from winter to summer in Massachusetts.
We want to give a public shout out to our third and fourth graders and to our third and fourth grade families. First, we had incredibly strong attendance for MCAS last week. Thank you for getting your children to school on time ready to show what they know. And second, all we can say is WOW. The effort that our students put into the assessment was inspiring. They planned their writing, read carefully, and used all the time that they were provided to put forth the best effort possible on both days. Many students told us that they loved the day because it was a change of pace and many of them love reading and writing. We will be conducting any make ups for ELA this week and then we have a break until mid-May for the math portion.
Great thanks to our PTO for arranging two separate cultural arts programs this week for all of our students. We have a mobile planetarium coming in on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday for our second, third, and fourth graders, and we have Pumpernickel Puppets presenting to our PreK, Kindergarten, and first graders on Tuesday. It will be such a nice addition to our week before spring break.
As a reminder, if there is something you would like us to consider for class placement for next year, please complete this form as soon as possible, but no later than April 24th. While we will consider all information, we cannot guarantee that we can honor all requests and as a reminder we will not honor any requests for specific teachers. Individual emails to teachers or to administrators may get forgotten, so please put all requests into the form as that will be the document we use during class placement.
Have a wonderful week!
Warmly,
Lauren and Wendy
