Cloverdale Elementary News
Week Of May 17, 2021
Principal's Den
I hope that you are all doing well and staying healthy. What a beautiful week. We recently celebrated our April award winners and we started taking our MAP test. We are also nearing the end of our ELPAC test and we want to thank each of your parents and guardians for your support in making this a reality. This week we celebrate our Classified Educators. I ask that you join me in celebrating all of our classified staff including our front office, health office, library, custodial, nutrition services, instructional assistants, and campus support aides. They are the backbone of our school and we have a great team that loves our kids and our community.
May is celebrated as National Foster Care awareness month. We have more than 700 Moreno Valley students in foster care. Our foster care students can face a number of obstacles and our district has a host of resources and programs to help support. It is important to us that we are able to provide all of our students with an equitable education that offers each student opportunities to be successful.
May is also celebrated as Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month. I encourage you to take the time to research some of the inspirational Asian American and Pacific Islander figures today and in our past that have contributed greatly to our country's history.
As we continue the last month of our school year please continue to work hard and excel in everything that you do. Make sure to complete any missing assignments, participate in class discussion, and work hard in order to finish this year strong and on a positive note.
STAR students of the week - Congratulations to our STAR students of the week: Aleena Williams from Ms. Bates's class and Shane Rousseau from Ms. Nunez's class. We have many other outstanding nominees for this special award and I will proudly read their names in the morning announcements. Please make sure that your students continue to stay engaged and participate in their classes daily.
Employees of the Month: We are recognizing a certificated teacher and a classified educator for the month of May. Our teacher of the month is Ms. Sharkey and our classified educator of the month is our EL Instructional Assistant Ms. Minnie Guerrero.
Thank you,
At Cloverdale we strive to be Leaders by Example. As I mention to our students during announcements, this means that we always try to do the right thing even when no one is looking.
As part of our school's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS), we also learn to ROAR. This is a matrix that exemplifies our core values of being Respectful, Organized, Accountable, and Responsible.
Our goal is to be college ready once we graduate from High School and that starts today!
Sincerely,
Genaro García

Classified Employee Of The Year:
Congratulations to Kim Sharp our evening custodian. Kim started working for MVUSD as a sub custodian in October of 2014. She worked at a few different sites before she was offered a long term assignment at Armada elementary, where she remained worked through August 2015. Kim decided to apply for a permanent position with the district after realizing how much she truly enjoyed the job. In August of 2015 she was offered a spot at Cloverdale Elementary and lucky for us, she accepted.
