Sixth Grade Newsletter

December 13, 2015

Dear Parents,

We have a full week of school this week. After the holidays, school will resume on Monday, January 4.

We wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

The classroom spelling bee will be held on Wednesday, December 16.

The assessment day will be Thursday, December 17. Students will have a vocabulary/grammar quiz and are expected to turn in a completed writing piece. There are practice activities and quizzes in Edmodo.

Social Studies

We are continuing our unit on The World in Spatial Terms. Students will receive homework this week, and it is due on Thursday. Students know how to submit this homework on our class Edmodo page. We are also learning cultural facts about our continents with help from the Studies Weekly newspapers that our PTO generously funded. Thank you PTO!

This week, students will have the option of taking the Unit 4 test on expressions either Monday or Tuesday. They received the review on Friday, and some may want to finish the review on Monday. After the Unit 4 Test, students will continue with Unit 5 and work on solving equations.

We started a project last week called A Better Gizmo. Students have to create their own invention. This is an in class project and is due on Thursday. The finished product will be a drawing of their invention with step by step instructions on how it works. There is no homework this week. Have a Great Holiday Season.
