Walkathon - May 14th!
We are now collecting pledges for our Groovy Greene Walkathon to be held on Friday, May 14th in conjunction with the bus/walk/bike to school day. The event will be for virtual and in-person students, to be held at EH Greene and the surrounding neighborhoods. Packets with information went home with students last Friday, but are also attached to this email for your convenience.
We are asking that each student consider asking friends, family members, or neighbors for any contributions to support our school. Because of pandemic conditions, we are encouraging students to collect pledges online. Students can register to collect pledges at http://pledgestar.com/ehgreene. The Pledgestar platform has the ability to send email, text messages, or post a link to social media to collect donations. We know that in the past students have walked the neighborhood and knocked on doors. We do not encourage face to face pledge-collecting, but do encourage students to make phone calls, send email, or text messages to the same neighbors. Please refer to the attached informational sheet. The walkathon chairs have also made a tutorial video for registering and sending emails on the pledgestar account. That tutorial can be found here: https://youtu.be/uRXd5LJmWIU
This year the students will be submitting walkathon routes and voting on the final route in school. We encourage as much participation as possible. On the day of the walkathon, students can wear their 'grooviest' attire. In addition to other prizes, students who collect $100 in pledges before Thursday, May 13, will receive a walkathon t-shirt they can wear during the walkathon.
The schedule for the day will be as follows:
8:20 - 9:00 am - 5th Grade Virtual (Emerald and Platinum Teams)
8:30 - 9:10 am - 6th Grade virtual (Gold Team)
8:40 - 9:20 am - White Team
8:50 - 9:30 am - Purple Team
9:00 - 9:40 am - Orange Team
9:10 - 9:50 - Green Team
9:20 - 10:00 am - Yellow Team
9:30 - 10:10 am - Red Team
9:40 - 10:20 - Gray Team
9:50 - 10:30 am - Blue Team
The walkathon chairs are so thankful for the many sign ups to donate water and help on the day of the event. There are still a few spots to help them sort and pass out prizes (into teacher's mailboxes) before the day of the walkathon. If you would like to donate time or water, here is that sign up: https://tinyurl.com/greenewalkathon

Transition Information for Rising 6th Graders
Advanced Art
Advanced Art is a program for visual arts students who demonstrate an extraordinary interest in the development of their skill and creativity. The class is designed for artistically talented students who strive for more depth of knowledge and have a willingness to be challenged. Below you will find a link to a form. To be considered for this class, you will need to complete the form no later than Friday, May 14, 2021 at 11:59 pm. The art teachers will review all submissions and use the responses from the form to select students. If there are more students selected than we have seats, we will run a lottery of the students who were selected to fill the seats. All students who are selected for Advanced Art will be scheduled in it and will drop Multimedia Explorations. The art teachers will use the email listed on the form to communicate the result of your child’s placement.

If items are not claimed by the end of the school year (June 3rd), they will be donated to charity. Thank you!
