We are including information on our referral process, our referral link, and COVID-19 resources. We will try to keep y'all updated and informed as we learn about new resources, changes in guidelines, and updated policies. FAQs
A. If a family has indicated a need either to the counselor, or another staff member, it is always appropriate to send in a referral after counselor has spoken directly to the family. SWs are available to consult in regards to family and student needs.
Q. What does the referral process look like?
A. Following our standard referral process, once a counselor has identified the family would like support from a SW please complete the referral link. The SW will reach out to the counselor to gather additional information prior to reaching out to the family. The SW will collaborate with the referring counselor, CIS Site Coordinator (if applicable), SAC (if applicable), and sibling counselors (if applicable). SW will follow up with all collaborating parties as needed.
Q. A family I am working with is experiencing food insecurity, how can they get assistance?
A. Counselors are encouraged to reiterate LISD feeding sites (Feeding Sites Interactive Map ) and community-based food pantries. If there are barriers for families to obtain food, please consult with SWs.
Q. A student I am working with is in need of school supplies, how can they get assistance?
A. We are currently attempting to get school supplies to our feeding sites to give out to families that need them. There are still details to be worked out, but it is in progress.
Q. Families on my campus typically receive LovePacs, will this still occur?
A. LovePacs has been working diligently to obtain and disperse food for our LISD families. Distribution will occur at designated LISD feeding sites. Please note, it is our understanding that LovePac bags will be dispersed on a first come, first serve basis. This may differ from their standard procedures.
Q. Families on my campus typically receive Food4Kids, will this still occur?
A. At this time, there are no accommodations for Food4Kids in place. We are attempting to resolve the logistical aspects and determine if this resource will be available to our families during this time.
