Zones of Regulation
"We all encounter trying circumstances that test our limits from time to time. If we are able to recognize when we are becoming less regulated, we are able to do something about it to manage our feelings and get ourselves to a healthy place. This comes naturally for some, but for others it is a skill that needs to be taught and practiced."

At Warner, it has been a team effort to teach students about the Zones of Regulation through classroom lessons, activities, books, and other means. Ask your child about the Zones and what feelings each color represents!
What Zone Are You In?
1. Identify with your child and verbalize when you are feeling certain emotions. Be a model for how you want your children to respond!
"This is really frustrating me and making me go into the yellow zone."
2. Model coping/calming strategies for your children when you experience overwhelming emotions.
"I need to take a few deeps breaths so I can get back into the green zone."
3. Ask your children the size of their problems --> is this a big problem or a small problem? This helps them (and us) to get a better idea of what strategies they may need to utilize.
4. Ask your children what they could do differently next time
"How can we solve this problem if it happens again to make sure we stay in the green zone?"
