The FDA is a federal agency of the U.S Department of Heal and Human Services
FDA is responsible for the protection and the promotion of public health by assuring and supervision of food safety, tobacco products, dietary supplements, prescription and over the counter pharmaceutical drugs, vaccines, bio pharmaceuticals, blood transfusions, medical devices, electromagnetic radiation emitting devices, cosmetics, animal foods and feed, and veterinary products.

A current issue the FDA is facing is that they don't regulate strictly enough. According to certain sources, the FDA allows unsafe products to the public and on the market because of many reasons. For example they face pressure from pharmaceutical companies, failing to label and store drugs correctly, and the use of dangerous chemicals, food additives, and food processing techniques.
