Attendance Boundary Committee Update

The District’s Attendance Boundary Committee (ABC) has been developing possible scenarios for new attendance boundaries in response to the opening of Suchma Elementary School in the Oak Ridge Feeder zone in the fall of 2019. The ABC released two scenarios in November, and based on public feedback, has slightly revised them.

Scenario 1 was modified by moving of Rayford Crest and Landmark Apartments from Ford Elementary to Houser Elementary. Scenario 2 has been slightly revised to show A76 (the area south of FM 1488 that includes several apartment complexes) from Powell Elementary to Galatas Elementary. To learn more about the zoning process and offer feedback on the two scenarios, go to

As we progress through the school year, please continue to remember the importance of school attendance and arriving to school on time. In addition, children who arrive late to school miss the important groundwork that is laid by teachers at the beginning of the day.

The instruction and learning that occur on a daily basis in the classroom is our central mission. Parents who make regular school attendance and punctuality a high priority are helping their children learn to accept responsibility, which is an important lesson for a successful life.

As we work to increase daily attendance – please continue to support your child’s educational process by limiting the amount of school missed except for illness.
