Fall Parade and Parties Were a Hit

Last week kids and teachers enjoyed the fall parade and parties! Thank you to all the families who braved the rain to watch our costume parade. Thank you PTA for organizing the parties and thank you to everyone who donated supplies. All in all it was a huge success. Below are a few pictures showcasing the creative costumes and parade fun. Enjoy!

Zoo to You!

As a celebration for students who raised $50 or more for Walk a Thon the Zoo came to Starside. Students enjoyed many different types of animals and learned specifics about each species. What a fun learning experience! Thank you PTA for the organization of this event.

Plan Now - Late Start Day Next Week:

The Board of Education approved three (3) delayed start days for the 2021-22 school year. The second delayed start date is Wednesday, November 10th. Students will begin school two (2) hours later than normal. Students will need to be at school for their first class at 10:45 a.m.

Students who ride the bus will simply add two hours to their normal pick up time. For example, if the normal pick-up time is 8:05 a.m., the pick-up time on November 10th would be 10:05 a.m.

Teachers and support staff will report for duty at their normal time. Schools will utilize time with staff for needed training and professional development.

Reminder of Student Needs

  • Coats: Weather changes mean coat weather - hopefully not left in lost & found!
  • Water Bottle: Please remember to send a water bottle each day. Did you know that dehydration is a major cause of headaches, stomachaches, and lethargy?
  • Extra Clothes: Please send an extra change of clothes for ALL students (5th graders spill too) to keep in their locker/ backpack.
  • Extra Mask: Please send an extra mask (or two!) in your child’s backpack each day. Masks ARE still required at the elementary level and we've seen a large increase in kids asking for new masks. Some of this may be related to wanting a new or different kind of mask. If you have cloth masks at home, please wash and re-use them!

As Always, please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

Community Service

Community service hours should be tallied from April 1, 2021 to March 31, 2022. Attached you will find a form for tracking service hours. All service hours are due no later than Monday, April 4th this school year.

The definition of service under the President’s Volunteer Service Award program includes any activity that has a significant impact on meeting the needs of the community. Services that are paid for or carried out for a family member do not count towards service hours. Some examples of services include helping with community organizations, school-based programs, scouting services, or any effort to help others.

Students are responsible for keeping track of ALL of their community service hours including hours completed at Starside such as Comet Guard. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me at Starside at 667-6270 ext. 2196 or e-mail me at mmispagel@usd232.org. Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
